Aphrodisiac Milk Recipe, how to prepare, benefits

Acharya Charaka has explained an aphrodisiac recipe prepared in milk base along with top portion of date’s tree and other ingredients which he says is one of the best vrushya yogas i.e. aphrodisiac recipes. It is called Vrushya Ksheera – aphrodisiac milk.

Vrushya Kharjurimastakadi Ksheerapaka

        Vrushya = aphrodisiac

        Kharjurimastaka = top portion of date’s tree

        Adi = and other herbs

        Ksheerapaka = milk recipe

खर्जूरीमस्तकं माषान् पयस्यां च शतावरीम् |
खर्जूराणि मधूकानि मृद्वीकामजडाफलम्||१८||
पलोन्मितानि मतिमान् साधयेत् सलिलाढके|
तेन पादावशेषेण क्षीरप्रस्थं विपाचयेत्||१९||
क्षीरशेषेण तेनाद्याद् घृताढ्यं षष्टिकौदनम्|
सशर्करेण संयोग एष वृष्यः परं स्मृतः||२०||
(इति वृष्यक्षीरम्)|

Ingredients

1 pala = 48 grams of the fruits of each of the below mentioned should be taken –

        Kharjuri Mastaka – top portion of dates tree

        Masha – black gram

        Payasya – Ipomoea paniculata

        Shatavari – Asparagus racemosus

        Kharjura – Phoenix sylvestris – Dates

        Madhuka – Glycyrrhiza glabra – Licorice

        Mrdvika – Raisins

Other ingredients

        Jala – water – 1 Adhaka in quantity – 3.072 liters

        Kshira – milk – 1 Prastha in quantity – 768 ml

        Sharkara – sugar

Method of preparation

Preparation of Kharjuri Mastakadi Kashayam 

The ingredients from Kharjuri Mastaka to Mrudvika should be taken in the mentioned quantity.

They should be boiled with 1 adhaka of water until one fourth of it i.e. 768 ml remains. Thus, the Kharjuri Mastakadi Kashayam – decoction of Kharjuri Mastaka and other ingredients is prepared.

Preparation of Kharjura Mastakadi Ksheerapaka

From the above said Kharjuri Mastakadi Kashayam, the milk decoction i.e. ksheerapaka is prepared. For this, 768 ml of milk is added to 768 ml of the above said decoction and boiled until only milk remains.

Now the final recipe is ready.

This shall be served by mixing sugar with it.

Pathya – diet while consuming this Vrushya / Vajikarana Recipe

While on this recipe, the person should follow strict dietetic restrictions. He should consume only Shashtika Sali – rice which has been grown and harvested in sixty days. This rice shall be prepared and served along with liberal quantity of ghee.

Benefits

This Kharjuri Mastakadi Ksheerapaka is said to be an excellent Vajikarana / Vrushya recipe. It serves as best aphrodisiac.

Summary and Discussion

When we look at the ingredients of the recipe, they are all easily available. The method of preparation is also very easy. It can be and should be prepared fresh every day and served fresh. It is also a nourishing drink since it has plenty of milk in the preparation, which itself is a Rasayana and conducive for the tissues, including shukra dhatu. Kharjura, Masha and Draksha present in the preparation not only make this a tasty recipe but also are enlivening in nature. The diet prescribed along with this recipe also has plenty of ghee along with Shashtika rice. Ghee itself is a Rasayana and the diet is nourishing and rejuvenating in nature.

Administration of Shodhana is mandatory before administering this recipe as in case of any Vajikarana / Vrushya Yogas. Other rules and regulations as in other Vrushya Yogas are also applicable here.
