Plus you aren’t in absolute survival mode.. that can wreck havoc on your metabolism and nervous system. No chronic pain, neurological pain/syndromes or chronic invisible illness. If you were struggling financially, it would be a different story plus the other added stuff I mentioned. Plus you aren’t in perimenopause either.. so many factors where you have added benefits but the biggest one is your financial bracket. Please remember this, not all followers have the economical advantages you have which are essential in assisting you in your health/overall well-being.
At my age I exercise to strengthen my body and to prevent falls. I wish I had your recipes 30 years ago. I ate granola, nuts, dried fruit at work just to keep from gaining weight because I had a desk job. Not the healthiest diet.
I see everyone eating a lot of protein to feel full for longer and consume less calories. However, I've been told I have high cholesterol, what can I do instead?
Hey Madeline…how about some hints for those of us stuck at a desk? Standing or sitting it is the worst 8 hours ever. I type/chart a lot to and motion at foot level has caused mistakes🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. Are there 2-3 minute power moves we can jump up and do?? Im 62 and running out of give a shit. Sigh.
My aunt pointed out this weekend that so many people talk about losing weight to become more healthy, when in actuality, losing weight doesn't necessarily make you healthy. Plus it feels so hard and restrictive because you're focusing on the wrong thing. She clarified that really, if you focus on becoming healthier, eg. eating more nutrient dense food and of course moving more, agility, and flexibility, things that make you more prepared for any physical demand that life throws at you, your weight will naturally align with your healthier lifestyle. Whether you're underweight, overweight, physically limited, whatever…things will improve to match your lifestyle.
Madelaine, Yes, Yes, Yes! Nuff said. It took me a few years to come to the same conclusion. Result– I eat good protein dense real foods, I'm always satiated, I hit the gym at least 5 days/week. And now that Spring is here in Canada, my walking has increased to +10k, often 20k steps/ days. Fat wouldn't dare build up on me these days. I'll be 74 in a few weeks and well on my way to getting my university-days 8 pack back by August.
That was me before. I was obsessed with eating very little. Until my labs showed that my body was starving, and my doctor referred me to a dietitian. She thought me how to look at food in a positive way. Now I’m working out just to gain back all the muscle I’ve lost. Wish me luck 💪🏽
