Is keto diet good? | Dr Pal



The keto diet is primarily used to help reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures in children. While it also has been tried for weight loss, only short-term results have been studied, and the results have been mixed. We don’t know if it works in the long term, nor whether it’s safe.

  1. 03:00 i would recommend the book, "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate living" by Stephen D. Phinney and Jeff S. Volek who are researchers in this field. They talk about the therapeutic use of carbohydrate restriction (including keto) for conditions like Metabolic Syndrome, Obesity, pre-diabetes and type-2 diabetes.

    I think you might change your mind on this if you read it.

    My age is 28 years.
    My fasting blood sugar-76,PP-100(after taking white rice meal),my hbA1c-5.9

    My query is- 1)Can i do muscle gaining gym workout?
    2)if i can then is it possible to build muscle by taking less(around 125 gram) carbohydrate?

    My height -5.10ft,weight 70kg.
    After getting my blood report i made a diet plan (1400 kcal) where i added 125 gram carbs,100 gram protein, 34 gram healthy fat,by taking low glycemic index food.only 3 time i eat in a day(4 hours gap).i follow 12 hours intermittent fasting.
    Am i going right direction sir?

What so many people dont understand is, unless they try something, they cant know if its working for them, including meditation and other wonderful things are subjective. if you are 25kgs over weight then keto might actually feel normal if u implement it, because there is so much fat for energy, but someone maybe 6 or 7 kgs above their normal range of weight and keto may crash their body severely, probably leading to additional weight gain when returning to regular diet.

    1 hour of physical activity a day is must. No magical diet can replace this. if you dont fall asleep like a baby by the end of the day due to physical exertion, u r cooking trouble in the long run, it doesnt matter if u r vegan, keto, carnivore or cuddalore!

  5. I did keto diet started with 68kg and by one month I was 62.5kg. And being Indian difficult to change habit of eating side dish as main dish. But keto has been an eye opener to me. Everything I eat have sugar in some form or the other sauces, pickle, fruits, aisle of biscuits and maggi were out of question. Keto is truly a lifestyle change. One can start with keto and then slowly shift to normal carb diet

  6. I dont think human body NEEDS carbs. Can you link some credible research showing that keto is bad for the heart? And I believe keto is unsustainable, its so hard to avoid carbs, sugar and processed foods. But if someone is able to do it long term without fail, they will for sure be healthier than the average person.
