My LDL and total cholesterol went way up but my triglycerides dropped to 70, making my triglycerides to LDL went to 1.19, which indicates large fluffy LDL. It naturally increases fasting and when we are in ketosis because we are burning FAT. It has to be transported around!
It depends on what you eat, if you eat olive oil instead of butter or fewer red meat and more chicken-Turkey- Rabbit, the ldl will go down eventually, only keto cannot work if you eat saturated fats.
There's nothing to worry about keeping Carnivore diet, Ketovore diet, Keto diet, it's 1000 time better than American Standard diet/Diabetic Diet, less big pharma meds that are toxic.
Got 309 cholesterol and 253 LDL after a year on keto with low-carb vegetables. Visiting a doctor tomorrow to discuss it. Keto has been a bliss for my stamina, gut and skin, hopefully I can stay on it
I ate junk food and all my blood work was fine, but I felt bad. I started keto/ carnivore and lost weight,but now all my cholesterol blood work is high now 😢
metabolism is as various as personality its pretty dangerous to recommend one diet to everyone or pretend ldl isnt a problem when the mechanisms for why its a problem are known
Silly diet, and as a MD you should be smarter then that. If you really have to fallow keto make Mediterranean keto, just swap majority animal product with seafood, staying away from saturated fat.
Hi Dr. Barry, I appreciate all your videos and help. My doctor is freaking out. I’ve been on the carnivore diet for over four months, I lost 55 pounds. I’m 5’ 10” and now at 218lbs. but the doctors upset because of my cholesterol I wondered your thoughts. I told him I didn’t wanna be on statins. The best thing is I’m not prediabetic and I don’t have to take my blood pressure medication anymore. I have neurological issues and it’s helped me. I’m able to get out of bed and walk around now. I’m 48 years old.

Doc, is there any data backing your verdicts? Telling from the audient comments, most carnivores have elevated LDL, not one third.

But doesn’t animal fat raise the bad cholesterol? I don’t have a gall bladder anymore..so what do I do?

So why do healthy people have high cholesterol numbers?
Ldl is over rated. My pcp advised having cac test and my CV risk is 0 even with elevated ldl.
LDLs are high for metabolic fit people. It’s a great thing. Processed food and sugar causes heart attacks.

Has anyone on the keto diet tried eating normal foods with carbs. Does your body explode with pain when you do?
My lol s 126. Non hdl cholesterol is 148 and cholesterol is 203. How bad is that? 😢

What does it mean for those one third people whose LDL goes drastically high after Keto?
My HDL cholesterol increased and LDL decreased and it also increased my triglycerides a bit
