When I retired in 1993, we ran 10mi/day, 4 days/wk…AFTER DAILY PT! This was in Baumholder, Germany… If you've been there, then YOU KNOW there is no flat spot between there to Kaiserslautern! There is no excuse for what past Commander In Chiefs since then, have allowed our military to become! Passing an AFQT at 39 with the same scores as a 17yo was MY STANDARD! and that was expected of any NCO. Had a Bn Commander in Crailsheim that publicly told a Battalion formation that if an NCO fell out of the 5mi run (of that time!) he'd forfeit his 'green tabs'… He meant what he said.. these were runs across snow covered furrowed fields of Onolzheim and vicinity. The US Army became an petri dish for Social Engineered DEI promoters and lost the will to be 'mission oriented' in every aspect of each day on or off duty! You can't 'win' if you won't train like you're going to fight to win!
