  1. Mozzarella has too many carbs for me and is for special occasions only. I have also noticed a hurting in my mouth after eating a little of halloumi cheese, which means it has too many carbs for the amount I normally eat of it. I find extra extra mature cheddar cheese and its Italian equivalents very satisfying in smaller amounts and leave no furriest in my mouth, so their labels of almost zero total carbs are correct.

  2. I have found straight out low-carb keto easier to do than counting carbohydrates on Atkins 20 plus years ago. However, net carbs weren't printed on boxes back then! I don't eat bread, so no need to write down the carbs, I don't eat potatoes, rice or pasta, so no weighing, no measuring and no calculating for this mathematical genius! And no writing a food diary!

  3. My husband used to get gout flare-ups 1-2x monthly, until we stopped eating pork. He hasn't had gout since, and it's been over a year now! Pork is toxic, even if you simply consider that they have a fast digestive system and they store toxins in their fat!

  4. I am a big cheese eater. I love cheese. I snacked on probably 8 oz of cheese per day, not counting the cheese I put on foods in my meals. I saw your video on cutting back on the cheese if you want to lose weight. I've been on/off, mostly on, Keto for 5 years. I used to be able to lose weight. Recently I have trouble losing weight and cannot lose my belly fat. So I am trying to cut out or limit my cheese intake. I'm 75.. So that's an issue in itself.

  5. Curious that you caution against extra fat while trying to lose weight on a keto diet (which is roughly 65 to 80% fat). In some cases people will harm themselves regardless of what you say, simply because they need to be shown to understand. No meal needs to have over say, 3,4,5 ingredients to be well balanced for nutrients and flavour. Keto meals require fewer. Even if someone is not much into math — food composition tables , a notebook, and kitchen scale will suffice to plan balanced meals and weigh the ingredients for preparation. I've done this myself, and still do occasionally, but know mostly go by volume, and occasionaly grab a calculator and notepad, and check the USDA food database online (using the Atwater specific values -most animal protein is 4.27 kcal/g, fat 9.02, etc.) for new food items. It gets easier pretty quick, and is a good way of tracking your progress (the notebook plus a ph reader).

  6. It is important to watch calories and carbs every day. When I was young, I sucked down a ton of cream and cheese and would stall or gain weight. Now I have looked at the high protein diets and calculated what my protein and fats should be, then cut the carbs to 24 for every day. But total calories are 1350 per day. I lose weight on this every time. Nuts and cheese are huge calorie additions.

  7. Keto worked but I was so sick. Nausea, lightheadedness, breath issues. It didn’t go away unless I was just barely in ketosis but then the threshold to be out of keto was too narrow and I couldn’t sustain it. My blood pressure corrected , belly was fat. Oh well.

  8. I've always figured it is better to count TOTAL GRAMS of carbs…for one thing, it's easier and quicker! What bothers me is that I enjoy cooking and eating with onions and garlic….if I'm going to basically eat carnivore, I don't want to give up my onions and garlic. Besides, I do enjoy a salad, not for the fiber…for the texture and diversity of foods. this is my dilemma.

  9. 1976. Thinning down for my wedding. The grapefruit & egg diet was my go-to. 1/2 grapefruit (no sugar) & 1 egg, preferably prepared w/out oil. PAM was real popular back then. Duration of the diet was 2 wks only. So a week of reg eating, & then back on the grapefruit & 1egg regimen. Wasn’t fun, but I lost 12 lbs. … And gained it right back within a few months. Sigh …..

  10. I put the liver in my meat processor and turn it into like a paste and then I put a serving inside of two burgers, mix it in well with just some salt in an egg and it is delicious. You won’t even taste it.

  11. Eric, I do not understand where some of the ketogenic diet information comes from anymore. When I started my ketogenic education and then my journey, applying what I learned is not what it is today. For example, it was always 20g total carbs. Today people claim it is up to 50 grams and that is just such bad information. A huge majority of people can not produce ketones that are meaningful at 50g, yet we can almost guarantee ketosis at 20g. I have tested this on myself and several other people, and that is true. I call BS on the 50g. Was Volek and Phenny to blame for this??

  12. 18:47 do you remember what Dr Atkins had to say about cashew nuts? I was drinking cashew nut milk with my coffee as I like to make my own variations of nut milk. I think it took me out of ketosis… also I remember Dr Atkins putting cashews and thrush together. Having been diabetic, I know what the thrush business is all about!

  13. Back in July in our Australian winter, I had Sars covid 2. All I could managed was to crawl out of bed at about 8 or 9:00 in the morning, make my Bulletproof Coffee which is basically my joy and my comfort, and I would put four eggs on to boil. Once they're boiled for a couple of minutes I turned them off to allow them to continue cooking. I would go back to bed with my coffee, fall asleep again, and get up at about lunchtime. I thought I would probably eat the three eggs I normally eat and I actually eat three eggs because two weren't enough at the beginning. I also have that food egg to keep me going between meals longer! Anyway, by lunchtime, I would peel all four eggs and end up scuffing them all because I was absolutely starving. But I lived on those four eggs for the 3 weeks that I was really sick, and eventually I got better. My new, after getting well from the SARS covid 2, I still needed my brain to recover from all the fog! That took another month…

  14. My top tip with nuts is to use a chopper to finely chop a mix of low carb ones, keep in a jar and then use a desert spoon to sprinkle over salad or yogurt. Massively helps portion control while adding crunch and taste. Good option for Vegetarian Keto to 😊

  15. Please let your guests talk or just have your own channel- it is so annoying interrupting people who come on with information. Plus you talk sooo slow- I am trying to be constructive But it drives me stark raving mad/then a commercial . I would watch u more- sure you are nice guy … don’t have the time for repetition. Save it for the end .

  16. If you're the type of person that starts out looking for ways around the rules for everything, keto/carnivore will be no different. It always comes down to personal discipline and how badly we need to change our diet.

  17. I only eat numbers 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 10, & 11. I’m lactose intolerant, hate eggs, cheese, don’t love meat, but I’ve been doing very low total carbs for 15 years. A1c is 5…I will continue throughout the rest of my life. 💖
